Deep Sleep

Sleep is one of the most important factors in achieving our health goals. Whether you're trying to balance your hormones, improve your digestion, or lose weight, sleep always seems to be on the list of top 5 things to focus on. But have you ever wondered why it's so important?

It’s simple:

Sleep isn’t just rest. It’s when your body resets.

Basically, throughout the day our body releases all kinds of hormones that allow us to function, they help us manage stress, stay awake, prompt us to start/stop eating, process information and so much more, we couldn’t do anything without hormones. But over the course of the day we slowly become desensitised to these hormones and can’t respond as well. When we sleep our body resets so that we can become sensitive to these hormones again. Think about the last time you didn’t get enough sleep, did you notice that you couldn’t process information the same? Or did you become overwhelmed by a small problem? Or did you eat more/less food?

That’s your body struggling to respond to its own signals.

So what does a healthy nights sleep actually look like?

It consists of:

1. Falling asleep within 15mins of closing your eyes

2. Sleeping for at least 7-8hours without interruption (waking to go to the toilet is fine as along as you’re falling straight back to sleep)

3.Waking feeling refreshed within the first 20mins without the help of coffee.

If you’re struggling with your sleep here are some tips to help you regain a healthy sleep cycle.

If you’ve been consistent with healthy sleep habits and still aren’t seeing improvements, it might be time to dig deeper.
Issues like cortisol imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, or hormone shifts could be at play.
